NEW SCAMS - Letters Mailed Out
Scammers can make letters look official, even listing a bank, mortgage company, or credit union as your lender.
If you receive an unexpected letter:
1. Pause—don’t panic or act immediately.
2. Avoid the phone number printed on the letter.
3. Verify it directly with your financial institution by visiting a branch or using a trusted phone number from its official website or your account statement.
Protect your personal information. A familiar name on a letter doesn’t mean it’s legitimate!
